Library Offers Workshop to Help People Take Control of Their Finances

With the close of tax season, most people will soon be receiving a refund check. How this refund is used says a lot about the person’s financial situation and their relationship with money. To help people manage their money more effectively, the Florence County Library System will be offering a Take Control of Your Money workshop series starting on April 23 at 6:00 PM at the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library in Florence. Other dates for the series include April 28, May 5, and May 7. Taught by Francis Marion University School of Business Professor Pam Turner, these free workshops are designed to help people improve their relationship with money by giving them unbiased information on eliminating debt and building savings, thereby reducing the financial stress in their lives. This program and related financial literacy programs and resources are made possible by a grant from Smart investing@your library®, a partnership between FINRA Investor Education Foundation and the American Library Association. The Friends of Florence County Library are administering the funds for this grant. Admission is free. Registration for the workshop is required. Please call (843) 413-7070 to register for the workshop, or for more information on the library’s Money Smart Week® events, visit www.florencelibrary.org.
