DA Dismisses All Charges Against Panthers’ Greg Hardy
UPDATE: The Carolina Panthers released the following statement on the DA’s decision to dismiss domestic assault charges against Greg Hardy:
We are aware of the decision by the district attorney’s office to dismiss charges against Greg Hardy. Greg remains on the Commissioner’s Exempt List and the NFL has advised us to allow it to complete its review under the Personal Conduct Policy. There is no change in his status at this time.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — District Attorney Andrew Murray has dismissed all charges against Panthers’ Greg Hardy. The announcement came after the DA’s office says the alleged victim, Nicole Holder, could not be located.
WCCB’s Marvin Beach confirms that Hardy made a civil agreement with Holder.
Hardy, was convicted by a judge on assault charges that stemmed from an incident that involved his former girlfriend. Holder says Hardy assaulted her and threatened to kill her. A judge found Hardy guilty but he appealed the decision which caused the case to go before a jury.
Hardy, a defensive end for the Carolina Panthers, only played in one NFL game during the 2014 season before he went on the commissioner’s exempt list, thus still getting paid more than $13 million for the year.
The NFL says Hardy’s status remains unchanged until they can review the matter.
