Relay For Life of Florence County SC 2015 Kickoff

January 22, 2015/ 6-8PM/ Open to the public On Thursday, January 22, 2015, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life® of Florence County will officially get underway as event volunteers and participants gather for a Kickoff to launch their fundraising efforts for 2015. The Kickoff will be held at McLeod Medical Plaza Auditorium and feature speakers from the community, honor cancer survivors, and offer opportunities to get involved individually and as a corporate partner. Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event. It is an event in which teams organize and continuously share walking laps around a track to symbolize the nonstop fight against cancer. Relay is a fundraising event, but is much more that that. It is a Celebration of Survivorship and a kind of “community fair with a purpose!” We begin the Relay with a Survivor Lap – a time to honor all of the cancer survivors – and have a Luminaria Ceremony at dark to honor those who have battled cancer. During the event, there are tons of activities, entertainment, and lots of delicious food. It’s a great time to see friends, neighbors and co-workers and share in the fight against cancer.
