Officials on the Violent Memorial Day Weekend

Three are dead and several are injured after a string of shootings over Memorial Day weekend in Myrtle Beach. City Councilperson Mike Chestnut said, “It’s not a black, white thing. It’s crime.” Chestnut was making it clear that the only goal is to take action on the crime that happened over the weekend. Chestnut said, “And when these things happen. . . We’re going to have to as a community come together and say we’re not going to tolerate.” Mayor John Rhodes spoke on the anger that has overcome residents and business owners of Myrtle Beach. He said that he was there and saw what was happening. Rhodes made it clear that “Something has to be done. There is no question about it.”
