Palmetto Campout
Never been camping? This is your chance! The Palmetto Campout is designed for families who are either new or beginning tent campers and will be an adventure-filled weekend. It is also a great way to get your children connected with nature! Families will stay overnight in a secluded area of the park with park rangers who will help participants set-up their tents. A set of loaner tents, lanterns, and air mattresses are available to borrow if you don’t have your own equipment. Your ranger guides will teach cooking, campfire and camping secrets. Families will learn how to rig a crabbing line, pull a seine net, paddle a kayak, and much more! Kayaks, safety equipment and instruction are provided courtesy of Black River Outdoor Center. The fee is $50 per family for the overnight event, and includes all activities. Participants will be provided with a list of food items to bring with them to be prepared over the campfire at their campsite. The program will begin at 10 am Saturday morning May 17th and conclude at 1 pm on Sunday May 18th. Register via phone, email or in person.
