Sadler to replace Vickers for final 4 races
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Elliott Sadler will replace Brian Vickers for the final four Sprint Cup Series races of the season at Michael Waltrip Racing. Vickers is sidelined for the remainder of the year with a blood clot in his right leg. He cannot race because of blood thinner medication he’s taking to treat the clot. Vickers informed MWR on Monday of the clot, and team co-owner Waltrip was already scheduled to drive the No. 55 Toyota this weekend at Talladega. Sadler was tabbed Thursday to drive at Martinsville, Texas, Phoenix and Homestead. Sadler has 431 Sprint Cup starts, and counts a 2004 win at Texas among his three career Cup wins.
