Walk N Roll Fundraising Event

On May 5, the Spina Bifida Association of the Carolinas (SBANCSC) will host its first annual Walk-N-Roll® for Spina Bifida, at Triad Park in Kernersville, N.C. from 8am-11am. It is a family-friendly, walk event that will help raise awareness and funds for Spina Bifida and those who are affected by it. Order of the Long Leaf Pine winner, Dale Metz will be The Honorary Chairperson and Master of Ceremonies at the event. The Spina Bifida Association of the Carolinas is designed for people in North and South Carolina affected with Spina Bifida to meet, discuss, and post various SB related materials. We meet once a month and are working hand in hand with the national Spina Bifida Association in order to become a nationally recognized SBA Chapter. Spina Bifida is the most commonly occurring, permanently disabling birth defect in our country. The Walk-N-Roll for Spina Bifida is a great way for the Spina Bifida community in our area to come together to raise awareness about this life-threatening birth defect and celebrate our achievements. Spina Bifida is a birth defect that occurs during the first month of pregnancy when the spine of the baby fails to close which can lead to paralysis and many other permanent problems. Eight babies are born every day in the Unites States with Spina Bifida or a similar birth defect of the brain and spine. Over 166,000 Americans live with this birth defect, and through quality of life programs, The Spina Bifida Association of the Carolinas has a dedicated group of professionals, families and individuals with Spina Bifida working to provide resources, educate, network, advocate and to bring about public awareness of Spina Bifida.
