I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4: 6-8 (KJV) Mr. Joe Manago, Sr. was born on January 27, 1947 in Florence, South Carolina to Dudley Manago, Sr. and Allean Peanard Manago. He departed this life on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at McLeod Hospice House after an illness. He attended the public schools of Florence County and was formerly employed with Florence School District One. Joe attended True Gospel Church of Jesus Christ, Inc., Darlington, SC. In addition to his parents, Joe Manago, Sr. was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shrease Taylor; grandson, Artavis Brown; four siblings, Dudley Manago, Jr., Evelyn Gregg, Jeanette Watson and Elizabeth James; and a son-in-law, Calvin Taylor. He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and loving wife of 43 years, Bertha McCall Manago; four sons, Rodney Taylor, Joe, Jr. (Bernadetta) Manago, Tony (Anita) Manago and Jason (Kimbrelle) Manago; six daughters, Gloria (Jeffery, Jr.) Solomon, Pam Manago, Sheila (Baretta) Scott, Tammy Taylor, Cynthia (Eddie) Hines and Michelle (Shawn) Ellerbe; 25 grandchildren; three sisters, Helena Manago, Dorothy (Edward) Bennett and Mary Shackleford; one sister-in-law, Hattie Moore; two brothers-in-law, James McCall and Dozier McCall; two special friends, Billy (Janice) Lowery and Lula Lowery; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
