Gregg, Levi

Born on February 28, 1948 in Darlington County, Levi “June” Gregg is the son of the late Janie Mae Gregg Williamson. He departed this life on Sunday, June 12, 2011. Levi attended Mars Bluff Elementary School and is a 1967 graduate of Wilson High School of Florence. He served eight years in the United States Army, stationed in Germany and Texas. He received the Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1984 from Strayer College in Washington, DC and pursued further studies at the University of Maryland. He was the owner of A&M Cleaning Services for many years. He later became employed with the Wilbert Vault Company prior to retiring in 2010. Levi was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist where he served faithfully in many capacities including sexton, Sunday School teacher, member of the Trustee Ministry and former president of the Usher’s Ministry. After acknowledging the call to preach, he became a licensed minister on March 13, 2011. He was truly devoted to being a faithful servant of God. “June” as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and family member. He truly loved his family and spent numerous hours visiting and helping anyone in need. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria Jean Williams. Survivors left to cherish his memory are: three children: Anetra T. Gregg and Typrise Gregg of Florence, SC and Levi Gregg, II of Bowie, MD; two sisters: Regina D. Witherspoon of West Haven, CT and Sadie A. Witherspoon of Hamden, CT; one brother: Armye H. Witherspoon of Clermont, FL; one aunt, Minnie Mack of Detroit, MI; one cousin reared as brother by grandparents: Frank (Mary Alice) Gregg of Florence, SC; a special friend, Druscilla Suggs of Darlington, SC; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
