Miller, Vincent

Vincent John Miller 89 of Southern Pines, NC; passed away on June 12, 2011 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Vincent was born in Arthur Iowa, on April 4th 1922 to the late John and Clara Miller. He served in the US Army during WWII and survived the Battle of the Bulge. In 1948 he married Vera Thornhill of Ida Grove, Iowa, where they lived until he sold his oil business and moved to their home in Pinehurst, NC in 1984, to be near their son and family. In 2007 they moved to Pine Needles in Southern Pines. Mr. Miller loved sports- golf and snowmobiling in Iowa and golf in Pinehurst. After a day of golf, he especially enjoyed going over to play with his granddaughters as they were growing up. He also loved working in his yard both in Iowa and Pinehurst. Surviving is his wife of sixty two years, Vera. A son, Vinnie and his wife Gail of Pinehurst, NC; two granddaughters, Caitlin Miller of Chapel Hill, NC; and Lindsay Daniels and her husband Capt. Chris Daniels of the Minot Air Force Base in Minot, ND; a great grandson, Ethan Daniels; brother, Donald Miller and three sisters, Florence Wunschel, Ruth Roeder, and Frances Vaughan of Iowa along with many nieces and nephews. One brother and three sisters preceded him in death. Services will be held at a later date in Iowa In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in memory of Vincent Miller to the American Heart Association at 202 Centre Port Drive, Ste 100 Greensboro, NC 27409 Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines is serving the family.
