Emmie Lou Morris McQueen, 90, died Wednesday, June 8, at Morrison Manor. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel officiated by the Rev. Harry Clark. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Geraldine “Jean” McBryde (Jimmy) of Laurinburg; two sons, James McQueen (JoAnn) of Laurinburg and Lester McQueen (Judy) of Bennettsville; a brother, Leon Morris of Dillon; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Born December 8, 1920 in Dillon County, SC she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Roxie Wilkerson Morris. She began a long career as an inspector for Heritage Weavers which later became Morgan-Jones, which later became J. S. Stevens. Upon her retirement she began serving as a greeter at Laurinburg‘s new Wal-Mart store and continued there for 15 years. When the store expanded to include a super market, she was selected to cut the ribbon. Emmie was dedicated to her family, and loved cooking for them, crocheting items for them, and attending family reunions in Dillon. Memorials may be made to Hospice, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
