Cain Sr, Coleman
Coleman Wesley Cain, Sr., 89, of Pamplico, S.C., died Sunday, June 5, 2011 in a local nursing facility. Mr. Cain was born February 14, 1922, in Pamplico, S.C., a son of the late Charlton Wesley Cain and the late Lena Coleman Cain. He was a 1943 graduate of Clemson College. He served his country in the United States Army stationed first in Hawaii and then Japan. Mr. Cain was a former mayor of Pamplico, serving two terms from 1963 through 1970. He was a lifelong member of Pamplico First Baptist Church, where he served in many leadership roles including chairman of the board of deacons. He also was a Master Mason and a member of the Pamplico Masonic Lodge No. 324. Mr. Cain was a bookkeeper for many years with Coleman Inc. and a lifelong farmer. He is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Eskridge Cain. He is survived by three children, C.W. Cain, Jr. of Pamplico, S.C.; one daughter, Maribeth Cain Pardue and her husband Danny of Florence, S.C.; John Charlton Cain and his wife Robyn of Pamplico, S.C.; three grandsons, Jonathan Wesley Cain and Wade Carter Cain of Pamplico, S.C.; and Grayson Coleman Cain of Florence, S.C.; a special daughter, Brenda P. Cain of Pamplico. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Cain Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of Pamplico First Baptist Church. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice for the love and care they provided to Mr. Cain during his illness.
