Bowen, Pearl

Pearl Odom Bowen entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father on Monday, May 23, 2011, at 06:44 AM. She lived with her daughter, Wanda Russell and son-in-law, James B. Russell in Clemmons, NC since her health had been declining for the past three years. Mrs. Bowen was born in Red Springs, NC on October 30, 1916 to W.G. and Ethel Forloines Odom. Mrs. Bowen worked most of her adult life with Burlington Mills in Red Springs and in Raeford, NC and Celuknit in Red Springs. After her retirement in 1960, she worked part time at Cato‘s in Red Springs until 1986. Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mack Bowen of ; one son, William Thomas Bass ; a grandson, Rusty Russell of; four brothers; two sisters. She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Bass and wife Joyce of Seagrove, NC, Jerry Bass of TX, and one daughter, Wanda B. Russell and husband James B. Russell, of Clemmons, NC, one sister, Margaret Odom White of Lumberton NC, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grand-children, 4 great great grand-children, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bowen will be at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs, NC where the family will receive friends on Wednesday May 25 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held in Red Springs at the Alloway Cemetery at 2 p.m. with Rev. Tom Shelton officiating. She was very active at Shannon Baptist Church and Liberty Baptist Church in Aberdeen, NC where she played the piano until her health began to fail. Subsequently, Mrs. Bowen came to live with her daughter and son-in-law and transferred her membership to Friedberg Moravian Church Winston Salem NC.
