Heffner, Charles

The life of Chuck Heffner peacefully ended on Friday, May 6, 2011. He was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania where he attended Dieruff High School. Chuck came to North Carolina to play football at Mars Hill College and complete his degree in business and economics. He formed Heffner Landscaping and Ground Management in 1985. He was an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster, youth baseball coach, and most of all, a loving husband, father Chuck is survived by his wife, Judy Maples Heffner, a daughter Heather (husband Mike Doolittle), and two sons, Forth and Colby, his mother Elizabeth Q. Heffner, sister Linda Heffner, of Allentown, and brother, Tom Heffner of Washington, D.C. His brother and sister-in-laws, Michael and Isabel S. Maples, Jeff and Deborah Maples, and Tim and Tracy Maples. Chuck had many nieces and nephews; Greg Hample, Chris ( Kim) Hample, Valerie (John) Lesko, Jessica, Nicole, Cameron, Morgan, Dillon, Jackson, Carson, and Mollie Maples. He valued and cherished his role as a father and thought the world revolved around his granddaughter Makayla, better known as G.G. (Grandpop‘s Girl). She called him Poppy. He embraced the opportunity to be a grandfather to Jordan and Ryan Doolittle. He was preceded in death by his father and namesake, Charles F. Heffner, Jr. and his beloved Grammy Quigg. One of the great joys of his life was his enduring faith in the Philadelphia Phillies. He also maintained a close relationship with his fraternity brothers of Pi Kappa Phi and their families. A memorial service will be held at Bethesda Presbyterian Church on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 4:00 pm with reception to follow in the the fellowship hall.
