Betty Joe Scott McRoy, age 64 of Laurinburg passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011. Betty was born March 29, 1947 in Mullins, South Carolina, daughter of the late Alex and Merlie Scott. She was a devoted homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She served as a member of the Faith Community Baptist Church in Maxton. Betty enjoyed collecting keepsake pigs, cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, David McRoy of their home in Laurinburg; daughters, Tammy Bullard, Lisa Locklear and husband James, Stephanie Mahar all of Laurinburg; brothers, Richard Scott, Jimmy Scott, Kenny Scott all of Cheraw, SC; a sister, Joyce Pritchard of McBee, SC; six grandchildren, Rhianna Grooms, Shelley Smith, Brandon Smith, Erick Tickell, Lindsay Blackwell, Keith Blackwell and five great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6th at Richard Boles Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Benard Locklear. Burial will follow at the Faith Community Baptist Church Cemetery in Maxton.
