Mrs. Clara Luke Johnson, age 88, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 25, 2011 at her residence. She was the daughter of Preston Luke and Lester Sims Robinson, born on October 28, 1922 in Florence County. She attended the public schools of Florence County. Her employment was with the late Thomas and Tallulah Richardson for more than 30 years and part-time with Tommy‘s Wholesale Florist for more than 25 years. At an early age, she joined Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and served faithfully as president of the Senior Missionary, past vice president of Deaconesses, past president of Mass Choir, past secretary of Senior Choir, member of Circle #1, past adult Sunday School and Vacation Bible Teacher, and past chairperson of Kitchen Committee. Mrs. Johnson was a Life Member of the Women‘s Pee Dee District Department, member of the Executive Board, served on Finance Committee, Chairperson of Pastor‘s Birthday Committee, past secretary of Deaconess Department, served as Chaplain and Memorial Chairperson until her health failed; and a member of the Historical Committee for the Women‘s Baptist E&M Convention of South Carolina. She was also affiliated with the following: Past Worthy Matron of Mt. Pisgah Sunbeam Chapter #318 Order of the Eastern Star, Assistant Leader of Dew Drop Tent #1, member of the Royal Degree Chamber United Order of Tents, Past Officer Council of the Leader‘s Council of the J. R. Giddings and Jollifee Union, Southern District #4, Past Live Officer and member of the National Grand Encampment of the United Order of Tents J. R. Giddings and Jollifee Union of the United States of North America, Inc.. Secretary of Mt. Pisgah Household of Ruth Lodge #5580, Past Chairperson of the Senior Citizen Committee for the District Grand Household of Ruth Lodge #22 State of South Carolina and member of the Mutual Aide Lodge #7. Mrs. Johnson was married to Deacon Isaac Johnson, Sr. for 71 years and to this union four children were born. She was a Christian woman who loved the Lord, her family and people. She gave them love, guidance, inspiration and support. She is survived by: a devoted husband, Isaac Johnson, Sr. of the home; two sons, Isaac “CoCo” Johnson, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV and Mack (Eliza) Johnson of Florence, SC; 12 grandchildren, two of whom were reared in the home, Andrew Leverne Jackson of Florence, SC and Ricky Jackson of Richmond, VA; 22 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Hannah Weldon of Florence, SC; two brothers-in-law, Sam Johnson of Newport News, VA and James “J.B.” Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; nine nieces; five nephews; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Little Miss Sharon Denise Johnson; and a grandson, Mr. Sylvester Johnson.
