Cameron, Mary Elizabeth
LAKE CITY: Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Cameron, 76, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 26th, 2011 in her home after a long illness. Mrs. Cameron was born in Florence County on October 12th, 1934. She was a daughter of the late Heyward Cornelius Collins and the late Vera Lee Collins and the widow of the late Willie Cameron after fifty years of marriage. Mrs. Cameron retired as a Supervisor from Avondale Manufacturing. She attended Lee‘s Tabernacle Church where she taught the Ladies Bible Class as an assistant teacher until her health declined. Mrs. Cameron was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. The family would like to extend a special heart-felt and sincere “thank-you” to Carolinas Hospice for all the compassionate care shown to Mrs. Cameron in her times of need. Words are not enough to express the gratitude for all that was done. Mrs. Cameron‘s surviving family includes her four daughters, Ann Matthews (Horace), of Scranton, Jeanette Hutchinson (Terry), of Scranton, Susan Hanna (Ted), of Hemingway, and Patricia Cameron, of Darlington; her sister, Nita Locklair, of Scranton; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cameron is preceded in death by her son, Paul Cameron, and a grandson, Terry O‘Neal Hutchinson. The family of Mrs. Cameron will have calling hours from noon until one o‘clock p.m., Saturday, April 30th, 2011 in the funeral home. Funeral services for Mrs. Cameron will be held at one o‘clock p.m., Saturday, April 30th, 2011 in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the funeral services in Anderson Cemetery in Coward. Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
