Strickland, James
Albert Strickland, 69, died Sunday, April 24, 2011. He was born November 17, 1941 in Scotland County, as a son of the late Hardin and Margaret Bowen Strickland. From the day after his graduation from high school until his retirement in 1997, Albert worked in the tool and die department at Ingraham/Toastmaster. He was a devout fan of the UNC Tar Heels, the New York Yankees, and the Washington Redskins. Albert also enjoyed helping other by running errands for then, such as going to the grocery store or drug store to get their necessities. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Godwin Hulon Strickland, three sons, Edward “Pete” Hulon of Laurel Hill, Jeff Hulon and wife, Gail and Willie Hulon of Laurinburg; two brothers, John Earl Strickland and Joe Strickland of Laurinburg; three sisters, Ailene Strickland, Martha Strickland, and Juanita Strickland of Laurinburg; his dog, Tiger; four grandchildren, Candace Hulon, Jill Butler and husband, Brandon, Kyle Hulon, and Ethan Hulon; one great grandchild, Micha Oxendine; two special cousins, Julia Byrd and Mary Alice Ellis. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel officiated by the Rev. Jeffery McGirt. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
