Lehn, Clifford

Clifford Anthony Lehn, age 81, loving husband of 58 years to Barbara Ann (Schwerling) Lehn, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2011 at E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center, Lillington, NC. Born on April 13, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the fourth of five children of the late Frederick and Mildred Lehn. Clifford was a graduate of Roger Bacon High School and Xavier University and also received his MBA from Xavier University. A financial executive specializing in government defense related matters, he worked for 26 years at AVCO, first in Cincinnati and then in Connecticut. Clifford spent the next 20 years of his career working at Vinnell Corporation in Virginia. In 2001, Clifford and Barbara retired to Carolina Trace in Sanford, North Carolina. He loved golf and bridge and was an avid reader. He was active in many charitable organizations throughout the years, especially his churches. In addition to his wife, Clifford is survived by his six sons, Stephan and his wife, Pamela, of Wethersfield, CT; David, and his wife, Jane, of Greenwich, CT; Daniel and his wife, Lauri, of North Liberty, IA: Gregory and his wife, Lori, of Palm City, FL; Randolph and his wife, Kellie, of Stratford, CT; and Matthew and his wife, Cindy, of Fort Wayne, IN. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, Ashley DePeau and her husband, Edward; Graham and his wife, Kimberly; David and his wife, Eva Temkin; Samantha, Benjamin, Nicholas, Jake Vitense and his wife, Tonya, Kelsey Vitense, Emily, Geoffrey, Michael Vitka, Courtney, Alexandra, Noah, and Jacob; as well as three great-grandchildren, Ava DePeau, Edward DePeau and Henry Lehn. He is also survived by his sister Jeanne Hock, and her husband, Alvin, and his brother, Russell, and his wife, Betty (Eppinghoff), and his sister-in-laws Dorothy (Schwerling) Prell, Jeanette (Schwerling) Wood and her husband, Ronald, Carolyn (Schwerling) Carlisle, Diane (Schwerling) Nagy and her husband, Thomas, and Helen (Koch) Lehn, wife of his late brother, Robert. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Botts, and his brother, Robert. Funeral services will take place on April 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Stephen‘s Catholic Church in Sanford. Officiating the service will be Msgr. Stephen Worsley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Roger Bacon High School, 4320 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45217-1596.
