West, Janice

Janice West, 73, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend went home to be with her Lord on April 21, 2011, when she fell asleep at home with her husband by her side. Mrs. West was born August 9, 1937 in Mooresville, NC. She was a beauty, both inside and out. As a statement of that beauty, she was Carrousel Princess in the Charlotte Carrousel Parade (1955), Senior Year Homecoming Queen of Mooresville High, best looking superlative at Mooresville High School (1956), May Queen at Lee‘s McRae College in 1957 and 1958. She graduated from Lees McRae College in 1958 as a top academic with a degree as a Medical Technician. Janice was a partner in Apparel Brokers from 1985 until 1999, and helped found Absco Mini Storage and Warehouses.

She was also someone who gave unerringly to anyone in need and did all this anonymously, never letting anyone know the things she did for others. She was one who was beloved by all who knew her. She drew you to her like a magnet, and leaves many, many friends behind who will miss her terribly. Janice is survived by her husband, Tommy, (her Greek God) of fifty-three years; son, Randy West; son, Ronny West and his wife Christian; two grandchildren, who were miracles to her, Becker and Rivers West of Myrtle Beach; her much loved sister, Jackie Cooke and husband, Mike of North Myrtle Beach and daughter-in-law, Amy West of Little River. She was predeceased by her son, Ricky West. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, April 23 at Lee Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. The family will also receive friends at the West home following the service. Memorials may be made in Janice‘s name and sent to Sea Haven Youth Home, Attn: Christina Jackson, P.O. Box 600, North Myrtle Beach, SC 28597. Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.
