Crowder, Perry

R. Perry Crowder died on Thursday, April 14th, 2011. Perry was born on December 13, 1929 to Dorothy and Harvey Crowder in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Erasmus High School in Brooklyn, Johns Hopkins University and earned his MBA from Columbia University. He also served in the U.S. Navy. Perry met his wife of 53 years, Barbara Lee, in New York, NY. They had three children and the family lived in Scarsdale, NY while Perry enjoyed a successful career in financial printing sales. Perry was an Elder at Hitchcock Presbyterian church and a member of the Fox Meadow Tennis Club in Scarsdale, NY. Perry and Barbara Lee retired to Pinehurst, NC in 1995. Perry became involved in a new hobby, computer technology, learning everything he could about email, the internet, photo editing and more. He also enjoyed playing tennis, working out at the Fitness Center, and volunteering with the Sandhills Community College. He served as President of the Pinehurst Lake Association. Perry loved people and will be remembered for his sense of humor, his kindness and his generosity. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lee; his twin daughters Jean Crowder Murphy and husband Kyle of Eagle, ID and Lynn Crowder Porter and husband Dave of Westwood, MA; his son Andy and wife Karen of Ellicott City, MD; and his grandchildren Brett, Megan, Caroline and Kelly.
