Arnold, Gorton

A resident of Whispering Pines, Gorton M. Arnold, 96, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Gorton was born August 15, 1914 in Sunman, Indiana, to Lena and Gorton M. Arnold, Sr. He was a graduate of Lawrenceburg, Indiana High School and the University of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Gorton retired in 1980 from Joseph E. Seagram & Sons after completing a forty-seven year management career in accounting and finance in Lawrenceburg, IN, Louisville, KY, Nashville, TN, Baltimore, MD and New York City. Gorton was a member of the Masons and Oasis Shriners. He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Margaret Crook Arnold; son, Richard S. Arnold (Bette) of West Hartford, CT; daughter, Sally Jean Sullivan (William) of Southport, NC; four grandchildren: Richard S. Arnold, Jr. (Judith) of Los Altos, CA, Leonard W. Arnold (Cynthia) of Los Altos, CA, Collin V. Sullivan of Boston, MA, Stacey J. Sullivan of Wilmington, NC; and four great grandchildren. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Lorraine Park Cemetery in Baltimore, MD.
