McKenzie, Marie

Marie Parker McKenzie, 91, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mrs. McKenzie was born November 2, 1919 to the late Margaret Blue Borst and William Grover Parker in Cameron. She was a member of the Southern Pines Benevolent Protective Order of Does. She is survived by two daughters Janet McKenzie Parks of Fayetteville and Rebecca McKenzie Barnes of Cary; four grandsons Taliaferro Parks and wife Caroline, Douglas Hunter Parks, James W. Strowd III and wife Heather, and Zachary M. Strowd and wife Julie; great grandchildren Hartley and Stella Parks; nephew George W. Parker and wife Patricia of Pinehurst. She is predeceased by her husband L.C. “Buck” McKenzie. Marie and Buck owned Resort Aviation, Inc., and were instrumental in the development of aviation in Moore Co. from 1952 to 1978. Box 68, Cameron, NC 28326 A Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Cameron Presbyterian Cemetery in Cameron, NC. Family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
