Iverson, Robert
Robert John Iverson, age 86, of Pinehurst, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by those he loved on Sunday, April 3, 2011. Bob held positions of increasing responsibility in manufacturing operations for several industrial segments of E. I. DuPont de Nemours and Company. His family often moved to pursue new opportunities, but Bob always put them first in every decision, career and otherwise. He was passionate about all things mechanical, especially if they were wheeled and powered. After his family, his workshop was his pride and joy. Bob completed a number of complete vehicle restorations during his life as well as countless workshop projects for family and friends. Maiden voyages of his motorized achievements will be missed on the roadways that cradle Pinehurst #7. Later in life Bob gladly gave of his time and skill to service wheelchairs when they fell into disrepair at Moore Regional Hospital. First and foremost he was a simple man who loved all kinds of people and was happiest when he could help someone else. He was oh so loved and will be ever so missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jeanne Andrews Iverson of Pinehurst, a daughter, Kimberly Iverson of Columbus OH, a son, Tracy Iverson, his wife Tracy Cook, their daughter Emma of Brentwood, TN, and four sisters Marjorie Iverson, Esther Lindhal, his twin Roz Hazelton, and Donna Lee Peterson, all of Illinois. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to FirstHealth Hospice, 150 Applecross Rd., Pinehurst, NC 28374 or to the Unity Church of Christianity, 4211 Maize Rd., Columbus, OH 4 The family will celebrate his life on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 1:00 PM at The Village Chapel, 10 Azalea Road in Pinehurst, NC. Dr. Ashley Smith will officiate, and there will be a small reception for friends and family following the service in the chapel hall.
