Armstrong, Betsy Anne

Betsy Anne Pickard Armstrong, 63, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Born on April 11, 1947 in Wilmington, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Gilbert and Margaret Mensing Pickard. Betsy was an avid traveler and enjoyed scuba diving in Honduras, the Bahamas, Mexico and many places they visited. She was a devoted dog lover and will be missed by her beloved Chihuahuas, Pokey, Little Girl and Lucky and her African Grey, Bubba. Betsy is survived by her husband of 47 years, William “Steve” Armstrong of Little River; three sons, Lowell “Gil” Armstrong and his wife Diane of Florence, SC, William N. Armstrong and his wife (Melissa) of Conway, Stephen D. Walker and his wife Donna of Robertsdale, AL; one brother, Randy Pickard and his wife Betsy of Southport; seven grandchildren, Drake, Lisa, Marlo, Jake, Alicia, Logan, Landon and one great granddaughter, Brooklynn. She is predeceased by her infant daughter, Debra Anne Armstrong and her brother, John G. Pickard, II. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Lee Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paws to the Rescue, P.O. Box 146, Marion, SC 29571. Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.
