Pastor Wilhelmenia McCrae Skinner, 79, received her summons and departed from labor to reward on Friday, April 1, 2011 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Darlington, South Carolina. Wilhelmenia, the daughter of Willie McCrae and Pauline Generette was born on November 7, 1931 in Johnsonville, South Carolina. She attended the public schools of Florence County. From 1966 to the present, she was employed as a housekeeper for Lois O’Neil and Company. At the tender age of 17, she was baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost. This was done under the leadership of Pastor Almeda Howard. She stayed under the leadership of Pastor Almeda Howard until her health failed. In 1991, she was installed as Pastor of Evergreen Progressive Church of Jesus. Pastor Skinner pastured Evergeen PCOJ until September, 1998 when she relocated to Darlington Highway and renamed her church, the House of Faith Progressive Church of Jesus which comes under the auspices of the Progressive Church of Jesus, Incorporated. What a great leader, teacher, mother, grandmother, sister and friend she was. On July 19, 1947, she was united in holy matrimony to James Skinner, Sr. and to this union four children were born. Those left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy: one son, Willie Skinner of Meza, AZ; five grandchildren, Stacey Skinner of Florence, SC; Tabatha Skinner of Meza, AZ; Christopher Skinner of Florence, SC; Shanetta and Chaddrick Timmons of the home; four great grandchildren, Rachael A. Skinner of Florence, SC; Shania Skinner of Meza, AZ; Rachelle Connery and Kelvin T. McAllister of Florence, SC; one sister, Annie Mae Brown; two daughters-in-law, Dora L. Skinner and Stephanie Skinner; one son-in-law, Willie Timmons; two adopted daughters, Zona Howard and Ramona Sellers; one adopted granddaughter, Valarie Timmons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James Skinner, Jr.; daughter, Minister Josephine Timmons; a grandson; and six siblings. “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
