LAKE CITY: Mrs. Barbara H. Gaskins, 66, passed away peacefully March 27th, 2011 in her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Gaskins was born in Johnsonville on April 21st, 1944, a daughter of the late Daisy Lee Prosser. She was a widow of the late Jackie Gaskins of Lake City. The family would like to extend a special “thank-you” to her great United Hospice Crew. They were blessed to have such caring, giving helpers to bring such compassionate care to Mrs. Gaskins in her times of need. Mrs. Gaskins‘ surviving family includes her two daughters, Debbie Morgan (Mick) and Denise Strickland (Steven D. Lane); her three step-sons, Lee Gaskins (Marsha), Maxie Gaskins, and Merwyn Gaskins (Tina), all of Lake City; her grandchildren, Brandon Cooper (Casey), of Pamplico, Erica Johnson (Devon McClam), of Johnsonville; Alie Brooks, Tyler and Kaylee Gaskins, and Ashland and Lakeland Gaskins, all of Lake City; her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Layla Cooper, of Pamplico and Stewart River McClam, of Johnsonville; her brother, Buddy Prosser (Mary), of Georgetown, and her special four-legged companion, “Gal”. Mrs. Gaskins is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Stunes. Funeral services for Mrs. Gaskins will be held at eleven o’clock a.m, Tuesday, March 29th, 2011, at the graveside in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery in Johnsonville.
