Charles R. Cook, Jr., died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born on June 28, 1922 in Herrin, IL, he was the son of the late Charles R. Cook, Sr. and Myrtle Bradley Cook. Mr. Cook was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Corps of Engineers in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He graduated from the University of Illinois. He was a metallurgist at TRW in Cleveland, Ohio for 28 years. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church, North Myrtle Beach, SC. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth L. Cook of North Myrtle Beach; three daughters, Leslie Walker (Steven), Shirley Zeff (Ken), Carolyn Lutz (Michael); one sister, Marian Lindsey of Kansas City, KS; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in Lee Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be at 11 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Pittsboro, NC.
