Pollard, Wilber

SCRANTON: Mr. Wilber D. Pollard, 68, husband of Helen Miles Pollard, died suddenly Friday, March 04, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Pollard was born February 22, 1943, in Clarendon County, a son of the late Allen Pollard and Mamie Browder Pollard. He was a retired electrician with Wellman Industries of Johnsonville and a member of the South Carolina National Guard, former Lake City Unit. Mr. Pollard was a member of Lee‘s Tabernacle Church where he was a Deacon, acting Sunday School Superintendant, member of the Men‘s Bible Class and the church purchasing agent. He served his church faithfully and was a servant to others in the community. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Surviving are: His wife, Helen M. Pollard of Scranton; daughter, Susan P. Plemons and her husband, Daniel of Coward; son David W. Pollard of Scranton; grandchildren, Samuel Michael Plemons and Eliza Jane Plemons; sister, Earline Hickman of Cades; brother, Ronnie Pollard and his wife, Joyce of Cheraw; mother-in-law, Mae E. Miles of Scranton; and special nephew, Shawn Pollard of New Hope. Mr. Pollard was preceded in death by brothers, Joe Pollard, Jesse Pollard, William Pollard and Johnny “J.T.” Pollard; sister, Martha P. Evans and father-in-law, Charles E. Miles. Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, 215 E. Highway 378 ByPass, Scranton. Burial will follow in the Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
