King, John
John D. “Buck” King, age 88, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Agape Hospice in Conway following an illness. Mr. King was born July 12, 1922 in Loris a son of the late Herbert Mayo and Lillie Powell King. He was a retired rural letter carrier and farmer. Mr. King enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially gardening and caring for his lawn. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lillian “Dot” Cox King of Loris, their children, Teresa and Mike Blanton of Loris and Donna and Tom McDowell of Winston-Salem, NC, and three grand-pets, Missy, Oscar, and Deacon. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Lacy D. King, Herbert L. King, Liston King, and Punk King, and four sisters, Vera K. Suggs, Eva Mae Evans, Lucille K. Webster, and Allene K. Stevens. Memorials may be sent to Loris First Baptist Church, 3117 Main Street, Loris, SC 29569, Gideons International, P.O. Box 93, Loris, SC 29569, or the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 4-6 PM at Ward Funeral Home in Loris. Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Twin City Memorial Gardens with Dr. Larry Turner officiating.
