SCRANTON: Mrs. Joanne Odom Dennis, 60, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 26, 2011 in the Medical University of South Carolina after a long illness. Mrs. Dennis was born in Clarendon County on June 6th, 1950. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Odom and the late Beatrice Floyd Odom, and was the wife of Tink Dennis of Scranton. Mrs. Dennis was a member of Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lake City. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Dennis loved to take care of her family. She was always so generous and thoughtful. Mrs. Dennis will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. Mrs. Dennis‘ surviving family includes her husband of thirty-nine years, Tink Dennis, of the home; her daughter, Christy D. Kirby (Steven), her two grandsons, Rhett Kirby and Dawson Kirby, all of Lake City; her brothers, Lawrence “Junior” Odom (Iris), of Barrineau, Cody Odom (Cynthia), of Barrineau, and Tony Odom (Pam), of Camp Branch. The family of Mrs. Dennis will have visitation from six until eight o‘clock p.m., Monday, February 28th, 2011 in the funeral home. Funeral services for Mrs. Dennis will be held at three o‘clock p.m., Tuesday, March 1st, 2011 in the Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Matthews Cemetery on Matthews Road in Lake City. Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
