Kelly Sr, Charles Purvis

Mr. Charles Purvis Kelly, Sr., the son of Mamie Purvis Smith Kelly and the late Charles Lee Kelly was born on December 14, 1937 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He died on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at his residence. Charles attended the public schools of Spartanburg County. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy from September, 1955 to August, 1957. His profession was that of a uniform officer with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Washington, DC. He was a member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church in Florence, SC. Left to cherish his memory: two sons, Charles Purvis Kelly, Jr. of Washington, DC and Carl Kelly and his fiancée, Gisela Samson of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Carl, II, Camilla, Cymone, Cimora and Cameron; his mother, Mamie Purvis Kelly of Washington DC; one sister, Connie Hawk of Washington, DC; one brother, Harry Kelly of Washington, DC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
