Kathleen Dellinger Gardner, 84, of Midland Way died Tuesday, February 8, at her home. She is survived by her sons, David Gardner (Sally) of Laurinburg, James W. “Jimmy” Gardner (Dawne) of Gibson, Kenny Gardner of Savannah, GA, and Greg Gardner (Ann) of Laurinburg; a daughter, Ellen Best (J. R.) of Montross, VA; grandchildren, Devin Gardner, Jamie Best, Valerie Bolderson, Matthew Gardner, Jason Gardner, and Sandy Gardner; four great grandchildren. Born April 26, 1926 in Richmond County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Neva Branch Dellinger. She was a 1944 graduate of Hamlet High school and married H. C. “Cub” Gardner in 1947. She was a bookkeeper for a furniture company and later Johnson Cotton Company, retiring in 1989. Kathleen was also an active member of the First Baptist Church where she was in the Fidelity Sunday school Class, WMU, and UFO. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 883, Laurinburg, NC 28353 or Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Revs. C. F. McDowell, III and L. D. Kimrey. Burial will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
