Elliott Sr, Jack Ottis
Jack Ottis Elliott, Sr., 79, the widower of Doris Joyce Cooper Elliott, went home to be with the Lord and join his loved ones on Tuesday evening, February 1, 2011. Mr. Elliott was born the son of John Samuel Elliott Sr. and Janie Ruth McCants Elliott on March 17, 1931, in Andrews, SC. He was a veteran of the US Army; was a farmer; was a retired box cutter of International Paper Company, Georgetown Mill; and was a lifelong faithful member of the Oak Ridge PH Church. Jack and Doris were married June 3, 1950 and celebrated 46 years together. From their blessed union was born six children, Jack Ottis (Betty) Elliott, Jr., John Samuel (Angel) Elliott, Anthious M. Elliott Poston, Virginia Ruth (Tim) Grimsley, Thomas Edward (Jackie) Elliott, and Robert Dewaine Elliott; 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and awaiting his first great great grandson, Dawson Gage. He is survived by one brother, John S. (Mary Bell) Elliott; one sister, Cecelia Figgins; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Anthious; one grandchild, Renada Dawn Elliott; two brothers, Doc Elliott and Red Elliott; and two sisters, Alberta Marsh and Earlene Martin. Funeral service with Military Recognition will be 2 PM, Friday, February 4, 2011, in the Oak Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery directed by the McKenzie Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-9 PM, Thursday, February 3, 2011, in the Andrews Chapel. Memorial may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Oak Ridge PH Church. McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Elliott family.
