Ransom, Earl Stacy

Mr. Earl Stacy Ransom, 93, of 97 Stanley Street, was born January 21, 1918, to the late Mr. Conley & Mrs. Cottie Lowry Ransom. He passed peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by his loving and praying family, Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ransom was honorably discharged from the US Air Force after serving in WW II and retired from a 37 year career as a Robeson County Teacher. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will truly be missed. Surviving is his wife of 45 years: Mrs. Josephine Locklear Ransom of the home; five daughters: Mrs. Sandra Oxendine (Henry) of Pembroke, Mrs. Linda Jones (Larry) of Parkton, Mrs. Pearl Stroud (Ted) of Columbia, SC, Mrs. Holly Bartley (Randy) of Orlando, FL and Ms. Wanda Ransom of Durham; three sons: Dr. Earl Stacy Ransom, Jr. (Emily) of Raleigh, Dr. David G. Locklear (Stacy) of Belmont and Mr. Gary B. Locklear (Carolyn) of Raleigh; two sisters: Mrs. Beulah Kemerer of Rowland and Mrs. Elsie Leasure (Gene) of Bishopville, MD along with 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by: a son: Mr. Earlton Ransom; a grandchild: Mr. John Patrick Locklear; his first wife: Mrs. Verdie Lee Wearins Ransom and five brothers: Mr. Andrew Ransom, Mr. Julian Ransom, Mr. Harvard Ransom, Mr. Eyrtle Ransom and Mr. Adrian Ransom. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 1, 2011, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Berea Baptist Church. The funeral will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Berea Baptist Church with the Rev. Christopher Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Community Homecare and Hospice, Roberts Avenue, Lumberton, NC.
