Suggs, Malcolm

Malcolm Elbert Suggs, age 88, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Loris Community Hospital following an illness. He was born November 10, 1922 in Loris a son of the late Ferdinand Derrick and Addie Shannon Suggs. Mr. Suggs was of the Baptist faith and a member of Woodmen of the World for over 60 years. He worked with Horry County Public Works and the South Carolina Department of Transportation for 30 years. Survivors include one son, Ronald L. Suggs of Loris; three daughters, Patricia Tyler and her husband Anthony of Loris, Barbara Martin and her husband Jerry of Aynor, and Sandra Hardee and her husband Mitchell of Clarendon, NC; one brother, Tom Suggs and his wife Genese of Conway; nine grandchildren, Bradley Suggs, Edward Suggs and his wife Omeria, Colby Suggs and his fiancé Courtney, Tony Tyler and his wife Maegan, Tiffany Tyler, Wesley Martin and his wife Keri, Shauna Martin, Evan Hardee, and Blake Hardee; two great grandchildren, Kinleigh Suggs and Ansleigh Suggs; several special nieces and nephews; and two special great nieces, Amanda Soles and Allison Soles. Arrangements: Mr. Suggs was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Stevens Suggs, five brothers, and five sisters. The family will receive friends Monday, January 31, 2011 from 7-9 PM at Ward Funeral Home in Loris. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Ward Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alvin Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cane Branch Cemetery.
