Garris, Joseph LeRoy

SCRANTON: Mr. Joseph LeRoy “Roy” Garris, 51, passed away peacefully Friday, January 28th, 2011. Mr. Garris was born in Florence County on May 7th, 1959. He was a son of Joseph Henry Garris and Nettie Mae Gaskins Garris, and was the widower of the late Linda Gail Springs Garris. Mr. Garris was a friendly, easy-going guy. He was a big car enthusiast. Mr. Garris especially loved his mint condition 1978 Chevrolet Corvette. He enjoyed driving it around town, putting it in car shows, and discussing it with friends. Mr. Garris was loving and generous soul. He would do without, so that others may have. Mr. Garris was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Mr. Garris‘ surviving family includes his two children, Eva Garris Davis (Chuck), of Scranton and Andy Garris, of the home; his grandchildren, Justin, Payton, Allison, and Sarah; his siblings, Teresa Howard (Roland), Janet Evans (Jimmy), and Glenn Garris (Debra), all of Scranton; his many nieces and nephews; and his special friend, James Hearn, of Pamplico. The family of Mr. Garris will have visitation from six until eight o‘clock p.m., tonight, Sunday, January 30th, 2011 in the funeral home. Funeral services for Mr. Garris will be held at two o‘clock p.m., Monday, January 31st, 2011 in the Scranton Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the Scranton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
