Walters, Randolph

Randolph “Randy” Walters, age 66, of Barnesville, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on December 5, 1944 to Edwin Walters and Catherine Conner Walters. He graduated from Barnesville High School in 1963. He was a lifelong farmer. He worked as Postmaster Relief at Barnesville Post Office from 1981 to 1996. He served as an active member and Deacon of Barnesville Baptist Church. He was loved dearly by his family, church, community and especially by his grandchildren. Mr. Walters was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Walters; his sister, Jeanette Walters Floyd and his brother, George Walters. He is survived by his mother, Catherine C. Walters of Orrum, NC; his wife, Susan Floyd Walters, of the home; three sons, Jason C. Walters and wife, Jeannie of Clinton, NC, E. Blake Walters and R. Shane Walters, both of Barnesville, NC; two brothers, Lance Walters and wife, Nancy of Conway, SC and Eric Walters and wife, Betty of Orrum, NC; four sisters, Shirley W. Barbee of Florence, SC, Ada Jane W. Ellis and husband, Graham of Fair Bluff, NC, Linda W. Lawson and husband, Tim of Lumberton, NC and Cathy W. Foley of Lumberton, NC; two sister-in-laws and husbands, Greta Hughes and husband, Len and Jerry F. Norton and husband, Kenneth; five grandchildren, Cassie Walters, Reid Walters, Samuel-Isaac Walters, Benjamin Walters and Isabella Grace Walters. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00AM at Barnesville Baptist Church in Barnesville, NC with Rev. John W. Spence, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Walters Family Cemetery in Orrum, NC. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011 from 7:00-9:00PM at Floyd Funeral Services, Inc., 1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Barnesville Baptist Church Building Fund, 1155 Barnesville Church Road, Orrum, NC 28369.
