Fickling, Frank Linely

Mr. Frank Linely Fickling, 86, of Florence, SC died January 24, 2011 in Florence at McLeod Hospice House. Mr. Fickling was born January 29, 1924 in Ehrhardt, SC, son of the late Charles Raymond Fickling and Allie Morris Fickling Ashe. He was a career railroad employee, beginning at age 13 and retiring in 1983 from his position as Railroad Dispatcher for the Seaboard Coast Line. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, and prior to transferring to Florence, the North Charleston United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Dandridge Fickling and three children: daughter Frankie Fickling Miller (Ken Mihalik), sons Raymond Lee Fickling (Jane), John Donald Fickling (Melissa), and four granddaughters: Michelle, Lauren, Hannah, and Grace. Of five children, he was the last surviving member of his family: brother Joe J. Fickling, sisters Mounsey F. Smoak, Mary F. Banes, and Aline F. Lowe. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday January 29, 2011 at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Cain Funeral Home of Florence is assisting the family.
