Broach, Jean

Jean Chandler Andrews Broach, age 83, died Monday January 24, 2011 at the McLeod Hospice House. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Belk Funeral Home at 2:00 on Thursday, January 27, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery. Born April 18, 1927 in Darlington County, she was the last surviving child of the late Charlie Chandler and the late Annie Bain Chandler. Jean worked for many years as a supervisor for Hartsville Manufacturing and was an excellent seamstress. She will be lovingly remembered by many brides in the area for their wedding dresses and by others for their special prom dresses and numerous pageant dresses hand-sewn or designed by her through several decades. Mrs. Broach was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. Surviving is her husband, C. Earl Broach, Jr., a daughter, Linda A. (Larry) Kinsaul of Darlington, a son-in-law, Dewey W. Powers of Florence, three grandchildren; Mia K. Kelly, Brandon Powers, Chandler Powers; three great-grandchildren: Parker Hepburn, Jade Kelly and Stormey Kelly. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah A. Powers, her brothers, Larry, Ray, Charles and Leo Chandler and a sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Peel. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at Belk Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice House, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502-0551 or a charity of one‘s choice.
