McDaniel, Christine Adams
Christine Adams McDaniel was born in McColl, South Carolina, on January 14, 1915, to the late Marvin B. Adams and Doushka Pass Adams. She grew up on the family farm with her sister, Evelyn Corell, and her brother, the late William B. Adams (Bill). She was well educated with degrees from Salem Academy, Meredith College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Christine began her career as a teacher in the public school system. In 1938 she married the late Archie Wilton McDaniel of Fairmont and continued her career as a principal in Marietta, North Carolina, until the birth of their daughter, Evelyn Ann, in 1945. Throughout her life she continued to love her South Carolina farm and the history of the area. Christine‘s best role in life happened when she became “Mema” to her grandsons, Zack and Josh. Searching the back roads for baseball cards, attending basketball games, learning about Star Wars and cooking the best caramel cakes in the area gave her happiness. That life continued to expand with the birth of her granddaughters, Lucy and Alice, and a whole new set of interests built around dolls and princess parties. Her faith and her family defined her life. She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Fairmont and loved her relationship with the Lord. Christine is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Ann, and her husband, Jeff. Her grandson, Josh, and his wife Laura, of Winston-Salem, and their children, Lucy and Alice. Sister, Evelyn Corell, of Tequesta, Florida. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel in Fairmont at 2:00PM. A visitation will follow.
