Nichols, Martha Fletcher
Mrs. Martha Fletcher Nichols, 95, of Scotia Village, died Friday, December 31, at Scotland Memorial Hospital. Born in Marlboro County, SC on January 8, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Roberson Smith and Mattie McLaurin Fletcher. Her husband Hollis H. (Nick) Nichols preceded her in death. . After graduating from Winthrop College in 1937, she went to Knoxville, TN to work for the Tennessee Valley Authority and retired in 1975. She moved to Laurinburg in December 1988 as one of the first residents of the Scotia Village Retirement Community. A memorial service will be held at Scotia Village in the Morris Morgan Room on Wednesday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by the Revs. Tom Dendy and James A. Dawkins, III. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8 in Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Dandridge, TN. Memorials may be made to the Scotia Village Foundation, 2200 Elm Avenue, Laurinburg, NC 28352 or Trinity Presbyterian Church, 13000 Blue‘s Farm Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352 or to a charity of one‘s choice.
