Fowler, Gracie

Gracie Allene Sarvis Fowler, age 84, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at her home following an extended illness. She was born August 10, 1926 in Horry County a daughter of the late Ezra Oscar Sarvis and the late Addie Powell Sarvis. Mrs. Fowler was a loving, patient, kind, caring, and motherly Christian woman. She was known to many as a Mama and Grandmama even though they were not her blood relatives. She was a member of Dogwood Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Fowler was employed by Marlene Industries for many years, but her calling in life was as a caregiver to many children. Survivors include her four children, Carolyn Fowler Williamson and her husband Rev. Lloyd of Loris, Wayne Fowler of Tabor City, NC, Brenda Fowler of Loris, Wendell Fowler and his wife Linda of Loris; a special family member, Ray Mattox of Arkansas; two brothers, Dave Sarvis of Baltimore, MD and Sam Lloyd Sarvis of Loris; one sister, Mary Beth Sarvis of Loris; five grandchildren, Rodney Fowler, Renae Strickland, Christy Hart, Amanda Hawley, and Tabitha Lee; and nine great grandchildren, Chrystal Strickland, Taylor Causey, Ryley Lee, Hayden Hart, Case Lee, Dawson Hawley, Josiah Hart, Noah Hart, and Laithon Fowler. She was predeceased by her husband, Berkley Fowler, her brother, Liston Sarvis, and a special family member, Sandy Watts. The family would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Fowler‘s caregivers, Bonnie Tindall and Charie Brown of Agape Hospice. Memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 223 Laurel Street, Conway, SC 29526. Arrangements: The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 6-8 pm at Ward Funeral Home in Loris. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 30, 2010 from the Ward Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
