Segars, Kelley

Ms. Segars died Monday, December 20, 2010. Born in Hartsville, SC, she was a daughter of Jacqueline Johnson Segars and the late James Macdonald Segars. An outstanding artist, she graduated Hartsville High School and continued her interest in art at Coker College, receiving both Outstanding Freshman Art Award in 1979 and again as a senior in 1982. After earning a BA in Fine Arts, she exhibited her art works throughout the state. She managed the Betsy Haven Galleries while in Columbia and later worked at Heritage South. She later taught art at North Hartsville Elementary school. Surviving are her mother, of Hartsville, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline “Liz” Segars (Timothy) Uhl of Hartsville, SC. Graveside services for Katherine Kelley Segars, 50, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Magnolia Cemetery. The Rev. Phil Thrailkill will officiate and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorials may be made to the Darlington County Humane Society, Box 1655, Hartsville, SC 29551.
