Brouwers, Jane Miller

Jane Miller Brouwers, age 83 of Southern Pines, died peacefully on the morning of December 16, 2010. She was born November 1, 1927 in Carlisle, PA to Eva Oyler Miller and Dr. Earl Edison Miller. She graduated Carlisle High School and went on to earn a BA from Middlebury College, Middlebury, VT. Following graduation she and her first husband, James Edmund Sullivan Jr. raised two daughters while making their home in many different states including Texas, Massachusetts, Vermont, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. While in the Philadelphia area she worked in Market Research before becoming a substitute teacher at Radnor High School, Radnor, PA. She and her second husband William C. Brouwers retired to Pinehurst in 1983. While there she worked with the Girl Scout Council of Raleigh, North Carolina. She and William moved to Belle Meade in Southern Pines in 1988 where she was a member of the Chapel. She is survived by her daughter, Beverlee S. Drury and her husband Scot K. Drury of Ogunquit, Maine and daughter Rebecca J. Sullivan of Towson, Maryland and two grandsons, Christopher and Timothy Wright. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Belle Meade Education Fund, 100 Waters Drive, Southern Pines, NC 28387 Attention: Linda Castillo or The Foundation of FirstHealth 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374. A memorial service will be held at 11am Monday, December 20th in the Belle Meade Chapel. A reception at Belle Meade will follow. Interment will be private in Arendtsville, PA. at a later date.
