Shampy, Robert Manuel

Robert Manuel Shampy, age 78 of Laurel Hill passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Mr. Shampy was born September 24, 1932 in Augusta, Georgia, son of the late Herman George Shampy and Beatrice Outlaw Shampy. He was the devoted husband of 50 years to the late Jean Stevenson Shampy. Robert was a United States Air Force Veteran that proudly served in the Military Police. He retired from AT&T after many years of dedicated service. He was also served as a former member of the Masonic Lodge of Columbia, South Carolina. Robert enjoyed attending the Peele‘s Chapel Wesleyan Church and the Tuesday Night Cruisers. Robert is survived by his children, sons, Robert J. Shampy and Steven G. Shampy both of Laurel Hill; his daughter, Elaine S. Seegars of Laurel Hill; sister, Jewel Shampy of Orangeburg, SC, sister-in-law, Geneva Shampy of West Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Herman George Shampy, II. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16th at Richard Boles Funeral Service. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Pastor J.W. Williams. Burial will follow the service in Hillside Memorial Park.
