MR.THOMAS HOWARD DICKENS, (78) of Garden City, SC (formerly of Twilight, WV) went to be with the Lord Friday, December 10, 2010 at Waccamaw Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Mr. Chester and Mrs. Edna Dickens. Thomas was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He loved the Lord and enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed building things for family and friends and spending time with his pets. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served his country in the United States Army in Korea; was a member and officer of the UMWA Local Union 8377 in Twilight, WV; a Scout Master for the local boy scouts; and a faithful member of the Damascus Freewill Baptist Church in Conway, SC. Thomas was a retired Coal Miner of forty (40) years. He is survived by his loving wife Georgann Walker Dickens, two sons, Kerry Robin Dickens (Shelly) of Van, WV and Brian Keith Dickens (Christie) of Gainesville, FL; one daughter, Drema Gail Walker (Gary) of Madison, WV; two stepdaughters, Tammy McCoy Brumfield of Myrtle Beach, SC and Tara McCoy Goodman (Allen) of Conway, SC; Eleven grandchildren, Melissa Walker Buckner, Corey Walker, Brianna Dickens, Chelsea Dickens, Nina Foster, Jon James, Marissa James, Anthony Goodman, Tildon Goodman, Nataly Goodman, & Samuel Goodman, two great grandchildren, Jon Michael James, and Zoie Dawn Durden; a special brother-in-law James Ray Walker (Tish) and many other friends and family. Mr. Dickens was preceded in death by one sister, Delsie Jarrell, and three brothers, Jethro Dickens, Jerry Dickens, and James (Chess) Dickens. A Memorial Service will be held 11 am Wednesday December 15 at Damascus Freewill Baptist Church in Conway, with Rev. Allen W. Goodman officiating.
