Cobb Sr, George Leslie

George Leslie Cobb, Sr. 93 passed Friday December 10, 2010 at St. Joseph of the Pines Nursing Facility in Southern Pines. Mr. Cobb was born November 5, 1917 in Arden, Arkansas to the late George Captain Cobb and Lizzie Boyer Cobb. Mr. Cobb served his country during WWII in the US Army. He graduated with a degree in Engineering from Auburn University in 1944 and worked with PPG in Pittsburgh for 33years where he held various management positions. After retirement in 1982 as Vice President of Purchasing he moved to Pinehurst to play golf and spend time reading. Mr. Cobb is survived by his wife of 73 years Dorothy V. Cobb. A daughter Jan Cobb of Fayetteville, NC; A brother, John Cobb and wife Mary of Texarkana, Arkansas; Grandchildren, Jean Michael Cobb and wife Suzanne and Dominique Clothiaux of Charlottesville, Virginia; Mr. Cobb was preceded in death by his son George Leslie Cobb, Jr. in 2008 In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in memory of George Cobb to FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care at 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374 or Community Presbyterian Church at 125 Everette Road in Pinehurst, NC 28374. A memorial service will be held 11AM Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Belle Meade Chapel in Southern Pines with a reception to follow in the Henley. The Rev. Carl Naylor and the Rev. Rod Stone will officiate. Interment will be private in Pinelawn Memorial Park with military honors.
