Wiggins, Bennie James

Bennie James Wiggins, 85, the husband of Betty L. Wiggins, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday afternoon, December 9, 2010. Mr. Wiggins was born the son of Ms. E. Alice Wiggins Bednego-Moore on April 13, 1925 in Columbia, SC. He was a retired pipefitter. His tenure at International Paper Company, Georgetown Mill, encompassed a span of over 44 years. He was also a member of the IP‘s Quarter Century Club. He was faithful member of the Six Mile Crossing Church of God and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He leaves behind: his beloved wife of 24 years; two children, Lt. Col. Bennie James “Jim” (Rose) Wiggins, II, and Susan W. Gunnels; extended family, Gene (Patty) Avant, Debra (Lonnie) Creel, Teresa A. Rowe, Carolyn Avant, and Denise (David) Vereen; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his first wife and mother of his children, Margaret C. Wiggins. Funeral service will be 2 PM, Sunday, December 12, 2010, at the Six Mile Crossing Church of God with interment following in the Sampit United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Saturday evening, December 11, 2010, at the Andrews Chapel. McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wiggins family.
