Hoffman Jr, Boland Arthur

Boland “B.A.” Arthur Hoffman, Jr., age 83, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at his residence in the Oates Community. Born September 2, 1927 in Darlington County, he was the son of the late Boland Arthur Hoffman, Sr. and the late Nancy Odom Hoffman. B.A. was in the Unites States Merchant Marines and then the Coast Guard. He retired after 44 years of duty and serving in three wars: World War II, Korean and Vietnam. He had also worked for Darlington County Recycling. Mr. Hoffman was a member of Elim United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Doris Cain Hoffman of Oates, a step-son, Chris Little of Jacksonville, FL, two step-daughters: Sharon Oliver of Oates, Diane Little of Jacksonville, FL; step-grandchildren: Josh and Lane Oliver, a sister, Mildred Marshall of Hartsville. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, December 11, 2010 in the LAMAR CHAPEL of Belk Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elim United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at Belk Funeral Home, LAMAR CHAPEL.
